Minsk: Literature brings Slavic peoples together

altAmbassador of Serbia to Belarus Veljko Kovacevic took part in a literary soiree held on the occasion of Slavic Literacy and Cultural Day at the Minsk House of Friendship, on 25 May 2018. The event was organized by the Belarus Society of Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries.

"The ties existing between the Slavic peoples sharing common history and culture are most clearly visible in literary works of extraordinary value", Ambassador Kovacevic stated. He also spoke about the closeness of Slavic languages, and the contribution of Saints Cyril and Methodius, the inventors of Slavic alphabet. The Ambassador read a poem "Were It Not For Your Eyes", authored by poet Vasko Popa.

The event was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, famous Belarusian writers and members of many friendship associations.
