NOVOSTI: SERBIA, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA'S DECLARATION ON SERB SURVIVAL TO BE PRESENTED ON STATEHOOD DAY

BELGRADE, 3 January 2018 (Beta) - A joint declaration by Serbia and Republika Srpska on the survival of the Serb people will be presented on the religious holiday of Sretenje (Presentation), which is also Serbia's Statehood Day - Feb. 15, the Vecernje Novosti daily reported. The Jan. 3 issue of the newspaper said the wording of the declaration had been agreed upon and that only minor adjustments remained. The report explained that the plan was to pass the document on the eve of Sretenje in the parliaments in Belgrade and Banjaluka. According to Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik, the document will be called the Annex of the Agreement on Special and Parallel Ties between the Bosnian entity and Serbia. The declaration should cover the right to the use of the Serbian language and the Cyrillic alphabet, the right to study and cultivate Serbian culture, the right to study Serbian history and nurture the Serbian freedom-fighting tradition, preserve the national geography, the right to the preservation and protection of the Serbian cultural and historical heritage and the right to information in Serbian, it said in the report.
