Meeting of Ambassador Filipovic with Admiral HowardActing Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Security Policy, Ambassador Branimir Filipovic spoke today with Admiral Michelle Howard, NATO Commander of Allied Joint Force Command in Naples.

During the meeting they exchanged views on the situation in the region and on that occasion the commitment of the Republic of Serbia to regional cooperation was confirmed, with the aim of preserving peace and stability, as well as further improvement of the economic development of the entire region.

Both sides expressed their satisfaction with the level and dynamics of the development of the cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and NATO.

Ambassador Filipovic emphasized that Serbia was implementing a policy of military neutrality, without aspirations towards NATO membership or any other military alliance. He pointed out the successful cooperation between the Serbian Armed Forces and KFOR, underlining that the unmodified presence of KFOR in our southern province was very important for guaranteeing the security and survival of the Serbian community in Kosovo and Metohija and for preserving its cultural and religious heritage.

Both sides assessed that political dialogue at the highest civilian and military level was intense, as well as the practical cooperation in many areas, which was realized, in the mutual interest, within the Partnership for Peace programme.
