fotografijaThe Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Egypt in cooperation with Helwan University’s Faculty of Fine Arts in Cairo, organized a competition for the best student art projects, for the second consecutive year. The award ceremony and exhibition opening were held on Sunday, 15 March 2015 and attended by representatives of the Ministry of Culture and foreign embassies, students, contestants, media representatives and numerous guests. The event has been widely covered by the Egyptian media.

New Delhi: Serbian Ambassador meets Nobel Peace Prize Laureate PDF Print E-mail

newdelhiAmbassador of the Republic of Serbia in India, Mr. Vladimir Maric visited at the seat of the Save the Childhood Movement the movement’s founder and Nobel Peace Prize Winner Kailash Satyarthi, on 18 February 2015. In the meeting, Ambassador Maric congratulated Mr. Satyarthi on the award and the interlocutors deliberated about the possibility of the establishment of cooperation between the two countries in the area of children’s rights. The Nobel Prize Laureate stressed that the creation of a global organization intended to address the overall child welfare would be one of his aims in the coming period, and that therefore children’s rights defenders from Serbia and the region could also take part in this organization’s activities. Mr. Satyarthi accepted the invitation to visit Serbia.

Cairo: Embassy presents cultural heritage of the Republic of Serbia PDF Print E-mail

03On the occasion of “Sakia Exhibition for Cultural Services”, held in Cairo on 26 February 2015 at the “El Sawy Culturewheel” cultural center, the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia represented the country with “One Journey - Million Impressions” documentary film and a video on Serbian folk dance ensemble “Kolo”. Visitors had the opportunity to taste Serbian national dishes and get acquainted with documents related to Serbian properties inscribed on the UNESCO Heritage List (Gamzigrad–Romuliana, Kosovo and Metohija medieval monuments Stari Ras, Sopocani, Studenica). Materials on Serbian renowned writers and linguists of international fame (Ivo Andric, Vuk Karadzic) and scientists (Nikola Tesla, Mihajlo Pupin, Mileva Maric) were available to the visitors. Publications on the world’s best tennis player Novak Djokovic were also presented at the event.

Cairo: Performance of Serbian pianist PDF Print E-mail

lenkaOn the occasion of marking the Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia, a concert of pianist Lenka Petrovic was held at the Arab Music Institute in Cairo on 8 February 2015.
Numerous Egyptian audience had the opportunity to hear an outstanding performance of pieces composed by Johann Sebastian Bach, Muzio Clementi, Robert Schumann, Franz Liszt and György Ligeti. Another performance of the Serbian pianist was arranged the following day at the Alexandria Opera House. Both concerts were co-hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Egypt and the Cairo Opera House.
