ENTERING AND LEAVING THE COUNTRY
Holders of biometric passport do not require a visa for stays up to 90 days within a period of six months. Visa-free regime does not apply to holders of passports issued by the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia ― Coordination Directorate.
As of 19 July 2013, Serbian citizens may enter any EU member state provided they hold a travel document issued in past ten years and valid for at least three months after the planned departure from the territory of the EU member state. Travellers who do not meet these requirements will not be permitted entry.
Visa not required for holders of Serbian biometric passports for stay up to 90 days over a period of six months. The visa-free regime does not apply to holders of travel documents issued by the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Serbia ― Coordination Directorate. A visa is obtained at the Embassy of Portugal in Belgrade.
It is recommended to have travel medical insurance policy valid for the entire period of a tourist visit in Portugal.
Cash amounts up to 10,000 euros do not need to be declared at customs. Amounts exceeding 10,000 euros must be declared.
The carrying of hunting weapons is permitted only with the EU Firearms pass.
Pet passports are required, issued by an authorized veterinary service, which states animal identification (by means of a microchip or tattoo), as well as vaccination (against rabies).
SOCIAL SECURITY AGREEMENT
No social security agreement has been concluded.

HEALTH SITUATION — There are no areas in Portugal affected with certain diseases or epidemics, and there are no restrictions on the consumption of certain types of food or drinks. All foreigners staying in Portugal have the right to health care in public health care centres or hospitals (in case of emergencies), and providing health services may not be refused on any grounds (nationality, lack of economic means, etc.). This does not apply in private healthcare facilities, which often require having a valid credit card. Taking out a travel medical insurance policy is recommended. Medical emergency service number is 112.

SECURITY SITUATION — Portugal is one of the safest countries in Europe.
However, petty theft is common, so it is recommended to be on alert in public transport, parking lots of large shopping centres, during visits to important cultural and historical monuments or other places with large crowds.

TRANSPORT — The most important airports are Lisbon / Portela (tel. 218413500, website: www.ana.pt), Porto / Francisco Sá Carneiro (22942400), Faro (289800800), Madeira / Funchal (291520700) and Azores / Ponta Delgada (296205406).
The railway network covers the entire national territory, with international connections (Vigo, Madrid and Paris). Types of trains available: Alfa Pendular (high level of service, fastest transport on the route Lisbon―Algarve and Lisbon―Porto), intercity trains (Lisbon―Porto―Guimarães, Lisbon―Guarda, Lisbon―Covilhã, Lisbon―Évora and Lisbon―Faro), as well as regional and city trains. The network of highways is extremely well developed, including regional and intercity road connections.

Required documents for operating a vehicle include identification document (passport), driving license (national or international), insurance certificate, proof of vehicle ownership, and vehicle registration certificate.
Serbian driving license may be used, and an international driving permit is required if operating a rented vehicle.
Holders of Serbian driving license can operate vehicles in Portugal for a period of 185 days, starting from the date of obtaining a valid residence in Portugal. Persons staying longer than 185 days are required by law to exchange their Serbian driving license for a Portuguese driving license and no additional driving test is required. Serbian driving license can be used for transit travel through Portugal, for the category of vehicles for which it was issued.

Credit / debit cards are accepted. Before travelling to Portugal, travellers are advised to find out about foreign transaction fees charged by their banks. The most common payment cards in Portugal are: Visa, Maestro, American Express, Diners Club, Europay / MasterCard.
