Skopje: Ambassador Jovanović met with Prime Minister Zaev

The Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in Skopje, Nevena Jovanović, met today with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Northern Macedonia, Zoran Zaev.

On that occasion, the interlocutors pointed out that the relations between the two countries are at a high level and that they are based on friendship, mutual understanding and trust.

Ambassador Jovanović congratulated Prime Minister Zaev and the Government of Northern Macedonia on the successful organization of the "Prespa Forum Dialogue".

Prime Minister Zaev said that the Western Balkans region has shown that it can be a source of democracy and stability, and that it should continue to develop economically and nurture European values, because the common goal is EU integration.

Ambassador Jovanović conveyed to Prime Minister Zaev the clear support of Belgrade to the European aspiration of Northern Macedonia and emphasized the importance of regional connections through various regional initiatives such as the "mini Schengen" and the "Berlin Process".

Prime Minister Zaev expressed gratitude to the political leadership and citizens of Serbia for the solidarity and donated vaccines for doctors and medical staff, during the pandemic, but also for the ongoing vaccination process that Serbia has provided to Macedonian citizens.

Ambassador Jovanović also expressed her gratitude for the decision of the Government of Northern Macedonia to release the citizens of Serbia from paying tolls when passing through Northern Macedonia.

It was assessed at the meeting that further infrastructural connections open up additional space for economic development and create an environment suitable for investments, which improves the standard of living of the citizens of both countries.

The importance of regional economic integration and the creation of a common regional market, which could be competitive in the European and international market, was especially emphasized.
