Washington: Ambassador Đurić handed over his credentials to the President of Suriname

Ambassador Marko Đurić officially became the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Serbia to the Republic of Suriname on a non-residential basis.

The ceremony of handing over the credentials to President Chan Santokhi was held at the Presidential Palace in Paramaribo.

In the conversation with Santokhi, Đurić reiterated Serbia's gratitude for the position on respecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country, as well as for the support that Suriname provides us in international organizations.

"Serbia and Suriname have been connected for decades with universal values ​​of preserving peace, stability and respect for international law. We overcome our geographical distance by continuity in bilateral dialogue, strengthening the cooperation of our institutions and connecting our peoples", said Đurić.

He added that he was especially pleased with the fact that young people represent the most important link of friendship with Serbia, who are increasingly interested every year and apply to study in our country by participating in the "World in Serbia" program.

"I believe that a great future lies before the relations between Serbia and Suriname, which have been raised to a new, higher level today", concluded Đurić.

Đurić conveyed to President Santokhi the personal greetings of President Aleksandar Vučić, as well as the invitation to visit Serbia in the coming period.

Ambassador Đurić also had a separate meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Business and Cooperation, Albert Ramdin, with whom he discussed the expansion of cooperation between the two ministries, and especially the two diplomatic academies through study visits and professional practice programs.
