Jovanović in New York at a meeting dedicated to sustainable peace

Nevena Jovanović, the State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, took part in a high-level event entitled “Strengthening Social Cohesion and Inclusive Governance for Community Resilience and Sustainable Peace,” held on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

In her address, Jovanović emphasized that sustainable peace is not merely the absence of conflict, but also the presence of trust, fairness, and a sense of belonging. She underlined the importance of inclusive governance and dialogue as the foundation of resilient communities, stressing that social cohesion is built when all communities feel safe, represented, and respected.

Jovanović further noted that the challenges of the modern era require joint efforts and stronger multilateralism, highlighting the unique role of the United Nations in supporting Member States in strengthening inclusive institutions and building sustainable peace.
