Minister Dacic receives a farewell call from the Ambassador of the Portuguese Republic

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic received today a farewell call from Ambassador of the Portuguese Republic Virgínia Pina, who is about to end her tenure in the Republic of Serbia.

Minister Dacic thanked Ambassador Pina for her personal contribution to the development of relations between Serbia and Portugal, recalling that during her tenure, and after seven years, the first visit of а Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs to Serbia took place.

Foreign Minister of Portugal João Gomes Cravinho visited Serbia at the end of 2022, when the two countries marked the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

In the talks, they noted that the relations between the two countries were good, but that there was room and mutual readiness for their further strengthening.

Minister Dacic pointed out that the foreign trade between the two countries exceeded 100 million euros for the first time last year, and that there was room for the strengthening of cooperation in other areas as well, such as education and energy.

Recalling that Serbia's membership of the EU was our strategic commitment, Minister Dacic thanked Portugal for the support it was providing to Serbia on its European integration path.

The Portuguese Ambassador thanked Minister Dacic for the assistance and support she received during her term-of-office.

She particularly emphasized how important it was that a Belgrade-Lisbon direct flight was established, both for business cooperation and for people-to-people contacts.
