Political Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Serbia and Luxembourg

The first round of political consultations at the level of Assistant Ministers between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg was held in Luxembourg on 18 March 2026, representing an additional step towards further enhancing cooperation between the two ministries.

The delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia was led by Acting Assistant Minister for Bilateral Cooperation, Ambassador Tamara Rastovac Siamashvili, with the participation of Acting Assistant Minister for the European Union, Ambassador Miloš Todorović, Deputy Assistant Minister for Multilateral Cooperation Ksenija Milenković, Head of the Department for Europe Milena Mitić, and Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Belgium Aleksandar Tasić.

The delegation of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg was headed by Ambassador Angela da Cruz, Director for European Affairs and International Economic Cooperation, with the participation of Marc Hubs, Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia, and Philippe Morres, Deputy Director for European Affairs.

During the consultations, issues within the domain of bilateral cooperation were discussed, with both sides expressing readiness to enhance political dialogue through the exchange of mutual visits. At the same time, areas for further strengthening cooperation were identified, with particular emphasis on finance, investment, e-government, and culture, as well as with specific reference to the position of the Serbian diaspora in Luxembourg. The existing cooperation within the framework of public administration reform between the Luxembourg Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) and the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) was particularly commended.

A significant portion of the discussions was devoted to the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, as well as to the Belgrade–Pristina Dialogue.

Issues of multilateral cooperation were also considered, with an emphasis on the need for mutual support within international organizations.

The interlocutors also reviewed in detail the prospects of the European integration process of the Republic of Serbia, ongoing reform processes, as well as current political developments within the European Union, both internally and externally.

Views were exchanged on contemporary geopolitical developments, including the situation in Ukraine and the Middle East.
