Selaković: Serbia is interested in deepening political and economic ties with France

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Nikola Selaković, had a farewell meeting today with the outgoing Ambassador of the Republic of France, Jean-Louis Falconi.

On this occasion, Minister Selaković stated that the political dialogue and overall cooperation between Serbia and France are very intensive and that they are showing steady progress, and that our two countries, as strategic partners, have further deepened cooperation in a number of areas in the past period.

According to him, Serbia is sincerely and permanently committed to further strengthening bilateral relations with France, having in mind the traditionally and historically close and friendly relations and the fact that we have signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement.

In accordance with that, Selaković expressed expectation that the successful cooperation in the next period will be additionally strengthened, both on the political and economic level, which the exchange of visits at the high and highest level would contribute to.

Selaković emphasized that there is mutual interest in improving economic and trade cooperation, noting that the project of building the Belgrade metro, which includes French partners, is one of the most important infrastructure projects for Serbia.

Minister Selaković thanked France for its support in the process of European integration, as well as for understanding the fact that finding room for compromise solutions through dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina is the only guarantee of lasting stability in the region.

On this occasion, Selaković emphasized that it is of key interest for Serbia to preserve stability in the region and the orientation of all countries in the region towards a more intensive cooperation, especially in the field of economy, which we prove through the "Open Balkans" initiative.

According to him, the improvement of good neighborly cooperation, which is in the interest of everyone in the region, represents a fundamental and unchanging starting point of the overall foreign policy of Serbia.
