To strengthen connections of Serbia and Mauritania

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Nikola Selaković, has discussed in New York today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Diaspora of Mauritania, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed.

Minister Selaković estimated that it was necessary to strengthen connections and contacts of our two countries and on this occasion invited Minister Ahmed to come to official visit to Serbia.

Talking about the high-level gathering in Belgrade, the event which will be organized on the occasion of the celebration of the jubilee – 60th anniversary of the First conference of NAM, Selaković said that he expected that the delegation of Mauritania, member of the Movement, would attend this important event.

The Serbian Foreign Minister, informing his interlocutor on economic success of our country in previous seven years, said that Serbia was interested in the improvement of economic cooperation with Mauritania, and indicated to the potential of the cooperation in the field of education and IT.

Furthermore, the scholarship of foreign students through the program “World in Serbia” was discussed and Selaković pointed out that we still expected the application and participation of students from Mauritania.

The interlocutors exchanged the information on the situation with corona virus in both countries. Selaković informed the Minister that Serbia so far distributed over 200,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine as donation to African countries, and the Minister of Mauritania congratulated Serbia on donations.

Selaković introduced the interlocutor to the current situation in Kosovo and Metohija, the most recent unilateral acts of Priština, as well as their persistent failure to fulfill provisions from the Brussels Agreement.
