Đurić Confers with Ghana’s Foreign Minister in New York

Reflecting on their recent meeting during the commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the First Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement in Belgrade, Đurić expressed his satisfaction that Ghana had participated in the gathering at the highest level and that Serbia had had the opportunity to welcome President of Ghana John Dramani Mahama and convey its commitment to strengthening Serbia’s presence and positioning on the African continent.

The interlocutors agreed that Serbia and Ghana enjoy well-developed bilateral and multilateral cooperation. In the spirit of their traditionally friendly relations and with a view to further strengthening cooperation through intensified political dialogue, Đurić invited Minister Ablakwa to pay a bilateral visit to Serbia, which would provide additional impetus to the partnership in areas of mutual interest.

The Serbian Foreign Minister once again thanked Ghana for its support for the preservation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia. He reiterated that, with regard to Kosovo and Metohija, one of Serbia’s most important national and state issues, Serbia remains firmly committed to upholding international law and the Charter of the United Nations.

The Foreign Ministers of Serbia and Ghana also exchanged views on opportunities to intensify Serbia’s cooperation with the African Union and enhance Serbia’s participation in its activities and various formats.

Discussing the Specialised Expo 2027 in Belgrade, in which Ghana will participate, the interlocutors also considered concrete modalities for ensuring greater visibility and representation of Africa as a continent, as well as of individual African countries, at this prestigious international event hosted by Serbia.
