ENTRY REGIME FOR CITIZENS OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

As of April 1, 2022, all restrictions on entry into Sweden imposed to prevent the spread of COVID-19 have been lifted. Serbian citizens can enter Sweden, as before, with a valid passport, invitation / guarantee letter, return ticket, travel insurance and proof of financial possession. Test or vaccine on COVID-19 is not required.

ENTERING AND LEAVING THE COUNTRY

A condition for entry of the citizens of the Republic of Serbia into the Kingdom of Sweden, as well as to other EU countries, is to hold a travel document issued in the last ten years, which must be valid for at least three months after the planned date of departure from the territory of Sweden. The travellers who do not meet these criteria will be returned from the border.

On 12 November 2015, owing to the increased migration flow, the Kingdom of Sweden introduced temporary control of land borders (road traffic) with the Kingdom of Denmark. This measure is still in force.

Citizens of the Republic of Serbia holding biometric passports do not need a visa for stays of up to 90 days in a 180-day period. The visa-free regime does not apply to the holders of travel documents issued by the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Serbia ― Coordination Directorate, in which case visa is obtained at the diplomatic–consular mission of the Kingdom of Sweden.

When travelling to the Kingdom of Sweden, it is mandatory to have health insurance and sufficient funds (50 euros per day of stay).

Owing to the increased number of persons who abused the right to seek asylum in the Kingdom of Sweden, there are now increased control measures when entering the Kingdom of Sweden. The Swedish authorities apply the EU Directive on a temporary ban on entry to the Kingdom of Sweden from one to five years for persons who violate the right to seek asylum.

Citizens of non-EU countries may bring in the following items into the Kingdom of Sweden, duty-free:

• 1 litre of strong alcoholic drink (more than 22% alcohol) or 2 litres of wine or liqueur (more than 15%, but less than 22% alcohol),

• 3 litres of beer,

• 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 250 grams of tobacco,

• Funds for personal use – i.e. the amount of 50 euros or 500 Swedish kronas per day of stay in the Kingdom of Sweden.

Travellers bringing medicines for personal use into the country must declare them when crossing the border and enclose a medical report and prescription. Intake of certain medicine which contains opiates is strictly regulated (with medical documentation, depending on the type, they may be brought into the country in quantities sufficient for maximum five days, or three weeks).
