Political relations
There is mutual willingness to enhance political and economic cooperation.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso, Olivia Rouamba, paid the first official visit to Serbia on 15–17 December 2023. Prior to that, the then First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Ivica Dačić, visited Burkina Faso in 2018.
Meetings on the margins of international organisations: On 26 September 2025, in New York, on the margins of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Đurić, held talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabè Abroad of Burkina Faso, Karamoko Jean-Marie Traoré. The two ministers also met on the margins of the 4th Antalya Diplomacy Forum on 12 April 2025.
The President of the National Assembly of Burkina Faso, Bala Alassane Sakandé, participated in the 141st Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly, held in Belgrade in October 2019.
At the Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), held in Belgrade in September 2011, Burkina Faso was represented by K. R. A. Bogoré, Director of Special Organisations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and K. Ouedraogo, an adviser at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They also met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia.
The then Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, met with the Prime Minister of Burkina Faso, Christophe Joseph Marie Dabiré, on the margins of the 108th session of the International Labour Conference on 11 June 2019.
Economic relations
According to data from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, total trade in goods with Burkina Faso amounted to USD 90,000 in the first eight months of 2026, of which exports from the Republic of Serbia accounted for USD 69,000 and imports for USD 21,000.
In 2025, total foreign trade amounted to USD 267,000, comprising exports worth USD 224,000 and imports worth USD 43,000.

- Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabè Abroad of Burkina Faso, signed and entered into force on 26 September 2025.
- Memorandum of Cooperation between the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Institute for Advanced International Studies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabè Abroad of Burkina Faso, signed and entered into force on 26 September 2025.
