Political relations
On 4 May 2017, the Government of the Republic of Serbia designated 25 May as the Day of Friendship with the Peoples of Africa.
Diplomatic relations were established in 1965, following Cameroon’s independence. Bilateral relations were primarily limited to political cooperation within the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the United Nations.
The then Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Nikola Selaković, visited Cameroon in February 2022. On that occasion, he met with the Minister of External Relations of Cameroon, Lejeune Mbella Mbella. This was the first visit by a Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs to Cameroon in 40 years. Nikola Selaković also met with the Prime Minister of Cameroon, Joseph Dion Ngute. The Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs presented the Prime Minister of Cameroon with the Order of the Republic of Serbia on a Sash, which had been awarded to President Paul Biya by President Tomislav Nikolić in 2016 in recognition of his contribution to the development of friendly relations and his position on the non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo and Metohija.
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Professor Đuro Macut, met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Cameroon, Joseph Dion Ngute, on 31 August 2026, in Belgrade, on the sidelines of the high-level commemorative meeting marking the 65th anniversary of the First Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement.
The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the two countries met on the sidelines of the meeting marking the 60th anniversary of the Non-Aligned Movement in Belgrade in October 2021.
Economic relations
According to data from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, total merchandise trade with the Republic of Cameroon amounted to EUR 21.5 million in 2025, of which exports from the Republic of Serbia accounted for EUR 1.1 million and imports for EUR 20.4 million.

Date of entry into force: 18 April 1963.
4. Cultural Agreement between the Federal People’s Republic of Yugoslavia and Cameroon.
Date of signature/entry into force: 18 October 1962.
