Political relations

Ethiopia was the first African country that the former SFRY established contact with after World War II. After multiple meetings between J. B. Tito and the Emperor of Ethiopia Haile Selassie during 1954 and 1955, intensive and dynamic political and economic relations between the two states ensued.

The former President of the Republic of Serbia T. Nikolić awarded the President of Ethiopia at the time M. Teshome the Order of the Republic of Serbia on a Ribbon in 2016.

The former Speaker of Ethiopian House of Federation (upper house) K. Ibrahim Ali participated in the work of the 141st session of the IPU Assembly, held in Belgrade from 14 to 17 October 2019. The former MFA of Ethiopia T. Adhanom visited the Republic of Serbia in April 2016. The President of the Republic of Serbia at the time T. Nikolić participated in the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa in January 2016, meeting the highest-level Ethiopian officials.

 

 

Economic relations

During 2020 exports to Ethiopia amounted to 205,000 euros, while imports amounted to 1,402,000 euros.
