Baghdad: Ambassador Balov with Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq

Today, the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in Baghdad Uroš Balov met with Dr Jaber Abdullah Al-Tamimi, the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq and Director of the Directorate for Europe.

At the beginning of the talks, the interlocutors referred to the traditionally good and friendly relations that had lasted for 64 years and agreed that there were no open matters in the bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Ambassador noted to the Assistant Minister that the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Baghdad planned to organize a series of events and ceremonies in 2023 to mark the 65th anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Moreover, the Ambassador handed over to the interlocutor a non-paper describing the actual situation in Kosovo and Metohija, at which occasion the Assistant Minister Al Tamimi repeated that the Republic of Iraq maintained a firm position of non-recognition of the so-called "Kosovo" and emphasized the commitment of the Republic of Iraq to their traditional friends and standard principles of the international law.
