27. Oct 2021.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Federal Republic of Germany, Snežana Janković, stated in an interview for the "Berlin Global" portal that Serbia and Germany have very intensive and branched bilateral relations, which are characterized by regular political dialogue at all levels.

In support of that, she reminded of the recent visit of German Chancellor Angela Merkel to Belgrade, which testifies to the high level of our relations and the degree of mutual trust.

The ambassador especially emphasized the excellent cooperation between Serbia and Germany in the field of economy and pointed out that German companies employ over 70,000 of our people, and that there is huge potential for further development and progress in this area due to the attractiveness of the Serbian market and the conditions we offer to foreign investors.

Also, Janković said that the recently signed bilateral agreement on strategic partnership in climate protection was of special importance, for which the Federal Republic of Germany set aside 309 million euros.

Regarding cooperation in the field of culture, Ambassador Janković emphasized the importance of the recent signing of a bilateral agreement on cultural cooperation between Serbia and Germany, the text of which was harmonized, and stated our intention to open the Cultural Center of Serbia in Berlin in the near future.

Although most of the Embassy's plans had to be postponed due to the strict pandemic measures in force in Germany, Janković conveyed a strong commitment to presenting to the German audience the long tradition of rich cultural ties between Serbia and Germany and said that few countries can brag with such close cooperation and friendship of key figures of their and German culture, as Serbia can, citing the example that Vuk Stefanović Karadžić collaborated with Geote, Schiller, the Brothers Grimm and that some great figures of German culture spoke Serbian.

In accordance with the mentioned, Janković pointed out that the Embassy is planning several exhibitions on the work of Vuk Stefanović Karadžić, with an emphasis on his cooperation with the Germans and expressed the Embassy's intention to organize cultural events dedicated to Nobel laureates Ivo Andrić and Miloš Crnjanski, prominent Serbian writers and diplomats.
