Berlin: Video conference between Ambassador Janković and the Secretary of State

Serbian Ambassador to Germany HE Snežana Janković took part in a video conference with Mr. Thomas Steffen, State Secretary at the German Ministry of Health, during which views were exchanged regarding the current epidemiological situation and the cooperation between the Serbian and German Ministries of Health.

Ambassador Janković informed her interlocutor about the efforts of the Government of Serbia to successfully counteract the corona virus pandemic, including the construction of completely new hospitals specializing in COVID 19 patients, the rapid procurement of various vaccines, as well as the persistent campaign to motivate citizens for vaccination.

She expressed the interest of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia to continue the excellent contacts and cooperation with the German Ministry in overcoming the pandemic, but also in the exchange of experiences related to the treatment of rare diseases, drafting health policies and strategies, and further advancement of cooperation of the most prestigious health institutions in both countries.

Secretary of State Steffen presented data related to the epidemiological situation in Germany, pointing out that international cooperation and coordination are the most important factors in overcoming the pandemic.

He conveyed the interest of the German Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach in a regular exchange of information and experience with the Serbian Ministry of Health, as well as his personal readiness to hold an online meeting with partners from the Serbian Ministry of Health, which would include representatives of the "Dr. Milan Jovanović Batut" Public Health Institute and the Robert Koch Institute in Germany.
