Bern: Ambassador Bradić with representatives of the Swiss Import Promotion Programme

22. Oct 2021.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Switzerland, Goran Bradić, and First Secretary Bojan Stojanović talked with the regional director of the Swiss Import Promotion Programme, Franziska Eggimann, and the representative for Serbia, Ljiljana Ršumović, about the possibilities of more intensive export of Serbian products and services to the Swiss market.

It was stated that trade between the two countries of 456.4 million euros last year increased by 5.4% compared to 2019, despite the limitations and difficulties imposed by the global viral pandemic, while the growth trend continued this year as well, thanks to mutual efforts to increase trade in goods, and especially to reduce the deficit on the Serbian side (145 million euros in 2020).

A very positive trend is the growth and surplus in the export of services from Serbia, primarily in the information technology sector. The exchange between the two countries in that area amounted to almost 650 million euros in 2020, with the Serbian side recording a significant surplus, that is, a plus of 182 million euros.

So far, the Swiss Import Promotion Programme has helped more than 700 companies from Serbia to make contact and place their products and services on the Swiss market.

A special focus, in cooperation with the Serbian Embassy in Bern, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and the Serbian Development Agency, is placed on the export of organic and bioproducts, textiles and wood products from Serbia to Switzerland.
