Bratislava: Chargé d'affaires Barlović attends a commemoration

Chargé d'affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Bratislava Marija Barlović, together with Speaker of the National Council Boris Kollár, Prime Minister Eduard Heger, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia Ivan Korčok and other high officials, participated in the commemoration of the 103rd anniversary of the tragic death of General Milan Rastislav Štefánik.

Chargé d'affaires Barlović laid a wreath in Ivanka pri Dunaji at the site of General Štefánik's plane crash, as well as at the monument in Bratislava dedicated to Štefánik, one of the most important Slovaks in history.

Milan Rastislav Štefánik, as a lieutenant of the French army during World War I, was sent to the Serbian front as a volunteer pilot at his own request. During his brief stay in Serbia, he undertook several military missions and helped the Serbian army prepare for retreat.
