At the invitation of the Romanian National Company Maritime Danube Ports Administration (ADPM), a delegation of the Serbian Port Management Agency, led by Director Vuk Perović, together with Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Romania Stefan Tomašević, have visited Galaţi and met with the APDM management, port operators as well as representatives of the district and administration of the city of Galaţi, with the aim to develop further cooperation.

Ambassador Tomašević emphasised the importance of the Danube River for the Republic of Serbia and Romania and pointed out trade potentials, the need to increase trade and opportunity for tourism development in a conversation with APDM Director Marcel-Daniel Coste, representatives of the city administration, districts, and port operators. He also commended the cooperation between the Port Management Agency and the APDM, which strengthened the relations between Serbia and Romania.

The Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two port authorities last year in Belgrade represents a contribution to the improvement of port activities and encourages the activities of the two institutions. It increases visibility of Danube ports in Serbia and Romania on the European map. It also enables further development of cooperation in terms of environmental protection, strengthening of international passenger traffic, as well as freight transport via waterways. Moreover, the common goal is the development of economic activities in the hinterland and their integration into international multimodal transport chains.
