The Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the United States, Marko Đurić, participated in the joint conference of Ohio military leaders as a guest of honor of Major General John Harris, Commander of the Ohio National Guard, with which the Serbian Army cooperates.

In his address, Đurić expressed his gratitude to Commander John Harris and members of the Ohio National Guard for the fifteen-year partnership with the Serbian Army, which over time grew into a sincere friendship between members of the armed forces and the two nations.

"The star that leads us in the year when we mark two important anniversaries – 140 years of diplomatic relations between Serbia and the United States and 15 years of the State Partnership Program between Serbia and Ohio, is our common history as the basis of our common future, our historical alliance in both world wars in which we fought, side by side, for the common values and principles on which our two nations are based today", said Đurić.

Đurić expressed his gratitude to Major General Harris for the special honor of allowing him to speak at such a gathering, which, as he added, testifies to the depth and strength of the partnership between Serbia and Ohio.

Đurić conveyed to the military leadership of Ohio the greetings of the President of the Republic of Serbia and the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Army, Aleksandar Vučić.

"Serbia remembers and will always remember the support, help and friendship of the Ohio National Guard and the Ohio people. I am glad that our cooperation has gone beyond the military framework, expanding to the segments of the economy and education. We will continue to find and nurture other common threads of our friendship", Đurić added.
