Exhibition "Nikola Tesla: a man from the future" opened in Trieste

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture and Information, Maja Gojković, and President of the autonomous region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Massimiliano Fedriga, opened an exhibition dedicated to scientist Nikola Tesla entitled "Nikola Tesla: a man from the future" in front of the Ambassador of Serbia to Italy, the Mayor of Trieste and other officials.

The exhibition was organized by the Serbian Youth Cultural Association from Trieste in cooperation with the Nikola Tesla Museum in Belgrade, and the new exhibition aims to show the life and work of one of the greatest inventors of the 20th century.

Minister Gojković greeted everyone present and expressed satisfaction that she had the opportunity to address the audience at such an important and solemn event and to open an important exhibition.

"The circumstance that the exhibition dedicated to this great scientist takes place in the "city of science" gives it additional value and symbolism. At the same time, through this exhibition, one of the most important personalities of our people is present in the city where the Serbian community has left its mark", Gojković pointed out.

She mentioned that the life, character and work of the great world and Serbian inventor have already been described, painted and screened countless times.

"Nevertheless, the phenomenon of Tesla and 80 years since his departure continues to attract scientists and artists, as well as to arouse the curiosity of the general public. Many writers, sculptors, composers, film and theater creators or cartoonists, have been and still are inspired by his timeless appearance", the Minister of Culture underlined.

Fedriga stated that this event is an opportunity to strengthen the cultural, scientific and economic relations between Serbia and the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region.

The opening of the exhibition was attended by the Ambassador of Serbia to Italy, Goran Aleksić, Consul General in Trieste, Ivana Stojiljković, President of the Serbian Orthodox Municipality, Zlatimir Selaković, as well as the director of the Nikola Tesla Museum in Belgrade, Ivona Jevtić.

Although he was not announced, the mayor of Trieste, Mr. Roberto Dipiazza, also appeared at the exhibition, who, as he told the reporter of Tanjug, was enchanted by the achievements of the great world scientist Tesla.

As Dipiazza said, one can always learn something new from Tesla, as he learned many details today, by visiting this exceptional exhibition.

A new exhibition about our great scientist was opened in the elite space of Magazzino 26, in the old port from the time of Austro-Hungary, and in 2020, Trieste was the scientific center of Europe.

The president of the Serbian Youth Association from Trieste, Ilija Janković, told Tanjug that the exhibition was realized by the Serbian Youth Cultural Association of this city, with the help of 24 partners in the city of science.

"We are in the new zone of the city, which last year officially became a part of the city of Trieste in full development, where all institutions dealing with science, technology and innovation of this city will most likely be redirected", said Janković.

The autonomous region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia is one of the 20 provinces of Italy and one of the 5 autonomous regions with a special status.

The Minister of Culture of Serbia and Fedriga had a meeting in Trieste on Thursday, when she invited him to visit Serbia and the Nikola Tesla Museum, which preserves the complete legacy of the scientist.

She also pointed out that Serbia's goal was to build a new museum building dedicated to the great scientist, who indebted the whole world, so that all objects would be in front of the eyes of the Serbian and world public.

The capital of the province is the city of Trieste, and the second largest and most important city is Udine.

The exhibition "Nikola Tesla: A Man from the Future" will be open until 10 October.
