Izmir: Ambassador Marković at the opening of the 8th Balkan Panorama Film Festival

Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Turkey Zoran Marković attended the opening of the 8th Balkan Panorama Film Festival, at the invitation of Festival Director Dr. Sali Sallini.

From 21 to 27 May, a number of films from the region will be shown at the Festival, including a new film by renowned Serbian film director Srđan Dragojević.

Director of the famous Tamburitza Fest in Novi Sad Jovan Pejčić also attended the opening of the Balkan Panorama Film Festival at the invitation of Festival Director Sallini, and the screening of his short film about the role of tamburitza in the Serbian culture, which drew a large audience at the opening night. With the aim of making an authentic presentation of this part of the Serbian cultural heritage, the women's tamburitza orchestra from Novi Sad joined in the celebration of the entire event by giving a 30-minute concert.

On this occasion, Ambassador Marković and Jovan Pejčić presented the specially handmade tambouritza instruments to Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Turkey Ahmet Demircan, Mayor of Izmir Tunç Soyer, and Mayor of Buca Municipality Erhan Kılıç, who are the Festival sponsors.

As it had been the case in the previous seven years, the Balkan Film Festival was an extraordinary opportunity to promote Serbian culture, music, and film this year as well.
