Kiev: Ambassador Jovanović visited the Church of the Exaltation of the Cross

The Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Ukraine, Aca Jovanović, visited the Church of the Exaltation of the Cross at the invitation of the Archbishop Bogolep of Alexandria and Svetlovodsk of the Diocese of Alexandria, on the occasion of the celebration of the 165th anniversary of the church's consecration.
The Church of the Exaltation of the Cross is a monument of architecture and urban construction of national importance and the tomb of the ancestors of the Raevsky family, in which four members of that family are buried, known as the heroes of the military liberation wars. Colonel Nikolay Nikolayevich Raevsky died heroically during the Serbian-Turkish war, defending the right of Serbs to a life free from the long-standing Ottoman yoke.
After the liturgy, Ambassador Jovanović gave a speech in the presence of Archbishop Bogolep, the clergy of the Diocese of Alexandria and the faithful.
At the end of the ceremony, Archbishop Bogolep and Ambassador Jovanović planted birches around the temple.
