Ljubljana: Books Donated to the First Children’s Serbian-language Library in Slovenia

21. Mar 2022.
In a ceremony organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Slovenia, children received books donated to the first children’s Serbian-language library in the city of Kopar.

After meeting children from the region on 5 March, the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić launched an idea to found the first children’s Serbian-language library, with a reading room, in Kopar.

The Advisor to the President of Serbia for Culture Mr. Dejan Savić issued a call for book donations, which was answered by 17 publishers. They helped collect around 1000 books.

An electronic catalogue will be created for the children’s library in Kopar, accessible to all Serbian-speaking children in Slovenia. This will be followed by launching a so-called “library train”, which will be distributing books to those who have ordered them throughout the cities and towns of Slovenia.

This is overall the second Serbian-language library in Slovenia, following the “Mihajlo Pupin” library in Ljubljana.
