Ljubljana: Serbian Language Lectorate has been established

Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad Ivana Živančević Sekeruš and Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy in Ljubljana Mojca Schlamberger Brezar signed an agreement, thus establishing the Lectorate for the Serbian Language in Ljubljana.

This is the first time that such a lectorate has been opened in Slovenia.

Lengthy negotiations preceded the signing of the Agreement.

According to the Agreement on establishing the Lectorate, the Serbian side will elect a lector and the Slovenian side will approve the lector`s election, without any additional election processes at the Faculty of Philology in Ljubljana. The Serbian side will fully finance the lector`s engagement, while the Slovenian side will provide him/her with an appropriate teaching load, working conditions, as well as the promotion of new study subjects including the Serbian language and literature.

The lector`s status will be in compliance with the Slovenian and European legislation on the work of foreigners, and he/she will have the status of a worker posted to work abroad at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Ljubljana.

The Serbian Language Lectorate is established for a period of four years, after which the agreement parties can renew the Agreement.
