The charge d'affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in India, which is also in charge of Afghanistan, Siniša Pavić, told Tanjug today that he is in contact with three citizens of Serbia in Kabul and that they are working on their evacuation.

"As of this morning, we have information about three of our citizens who are in Afghanistan. We are in permanent contact with them and we are working on their emergency evacuation, given the dramatic situation in Kabul", Pavić said.

He said that, based on what he heard from them, but also what can be reported through the media, the situation is dramatic.

He conveyed that the events around both airports in Kabul were also dramatic.

"There were shootings around the civilian airport and there are reports of at least five victims, and there are a large number of people around the military airport, according to estimates from 1,000 to 2,000 people, and some are armed. The situation is very serious with an uncertain further course", Pavić emphasized.

He added that the Embassy in New Delhi is in contact with our citizens, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in contact with the countries that are planning evacuation flights in the near future, and that he hopes that this will bring results as soon as possible.

He also mentioned that commercial flights have been moving for some time, and said: "We are trying to resolve the situation in the best way in contact with our citizens".
