Prague: Ambassador Vekić meets with Karel Smékal

23. May 2022.
Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Czech Republic Berislav Vekić has met with Karel Smékal, Special Envoy for the EXPO exhibition at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.

Possibilities for the organisation of the world's largest exhibition EXPO 2027 were discussed at the meeting. In addition to Belgrade (Serbia), Minnesota (United States of America), Phuket (Thailand), Buenos Aires (Argentina), and Malaga (Spain) are competing to be the next city host of EXPO 2027.

Ambassador Vekić told Mr Smékal about the idea to name the exhibition “Play for Humanity” and conceptualise it so that it puts the following questions to all the exhibition participants: “How do we become resilient and ready for a future we cannot fully predict?” and “Where will the power source of games, music, and sports be in the future?”

Ambassador Vekić thanked Mr Smékal for the good relations between their respective countries and the two peoples to date, expressing hope that the Czech Republic would support Serbia in the competition to organise and host the EXPO 2027.
