Skopje: The 104th anniversary of Armistice Day that ended the First World War marked

The 104th anniversary of Armistice Day that ended the First World War was marked at the Serbian Military Cemetery in Bitola with a state ceremony organized by the Committee of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for Nurturing the Traditions of the Liberation Wars of Serbia and the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in the Republic of North Macedonia.

The ceremony was attended by the state delegation led by the assistant minister of the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Biljana Barošević and the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in Skopje Nevena Jovanović with Embassy representatives.

Assistant Minister Barošević said that Serbia is preserving the memory of its famous ancestors who gave their lives in the battles before and during the breakthrough of the Salonika front. She pointed out that the Republic of Serbia, led by President Aleksandar Vučić, is doing everything in its power to overcome historical misunderstandings and intolerance, which still exist among the peoples of the Balkans and the wider region of South Eastern Europe.

The wreath-laying ceremony was also attended by representatives of the Assembly of North Macedonia and the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, the Ministry of Defence, the Serbian Armed Forces, the Office for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, the diplomatic and military corps, the local government of Bitola, students of the University of Criminal Investigation and Police Studies and the Military Academy from of Belgrade, numerous associations of Serbs from North Macedonia, veterans' associations and associations for nurturing traditions, as well as descendants of fallen Serbian soldiers.

On the same day, wreaths were laid and tributes were paid at the Serbian military cemeteries in the towns of Bač, Živojno, Dobroveni and Skočivir at the foot of the Voras Mountains.
