02. Jun 2022.
Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Bulgaria Željko Jović visited the municipalities of Vidin and Vrace during his visit to the north-eastern Bulgaria.

At a meeting between Ambassador Jović and the management of the Vidin municipality, led by Deputy Mayors Svetislav Korchev and Desislava Todorova, subjects relating to future cross-border cooperation projects were discussed as a priority.

Ambassador Jović and Deputy Mayors Korchev and Todorova also discussed problems in this field which had been identified in the preceding period, and potential solutions as regards the next Serbian partner of the Vidin municipality. They also highlighted the need for an accelerated development of road infrastructure in this municipality, which would strengthen the connections between Vidin and the Serbian municipalities of Negotin and Zaječar, which would contribute to the necessary mitigation of demographic problems on both sides of the border.

Ambassador Jović was a guest of Kalina Kamenova, Mayor of Vrace, at the ceremony commemorating the 146th anniversary of the brave fight of Hristo Botev and his comrades-in-arms to liberate their country from the Turkish rule. The reception in the City Assembly was also attended by President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev.

Ambassador Jović and Mayor Kamenova agreed to intensify their interactions as much as possible, in order to achieve all the targets agreed on during the preceding periods, which had been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to active efforts on further implementation of cross-border projects planned with the neighbouring Serbian municipalities, the possibility of involving the Public Enterprise Ski Resorts of Serbia to assist in the process of designing the development of the ski lift system in the Vrace area was also discussed.
