Timisoara: 28th Days of Transfiguration of Serbs in Romania opened

18. Aug 2021.
The Consul General of the Republic of Serbia in Timisoara, Vladan Tadić, opened the international literary and spiritual event "28th Days of Transfiguration of Serbs in Romania".

As part of the opening ceremony at the Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia in Timisoara, a press conference was organized at which the three-day program of this year's event was presented in detail. The program includes literary evenings, a round table dedicated to cooperation between Serbs from Romania and Serbs from Montenegro, several cultural events, but also visits to Serbian monasteries and other landmarks in the counties of Timis and Caras-Severin, the Danube Gorge and Poljadija, where Serbs live.

The central place of the manifestation, as in all previous years, is the Bazjaš Monastery, one of the sources of Serbian spirituality, which eight centuries ago, according to folklore, was founded by Saint Sava, and where an award ceremony is planned for this year's winner, poet Nenad Grujičić from Novi Sad.

In his address, Consul General Tadić mentioned that the "Days of Transfiguration of Serbs in Romania" are the most important literary event of the entire Serbian diaspora, which the Association of Serbs in Romania traditionally organizes in cooperation with the Consulate General and the Department for Interethnic Relations of the Government of Romania, and with the support of the City of Vrsac, which provides the monetary part of the award.

He emphasized that, in addition to writers from Serbia and Romania, writers from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro are also participating in this year's event, who, together with representatives of the Serbian National Council of Montenegro, are special guests of this year's event. Within several programs of literary evenings, the present writers and poets will be joined in a virtual manner by creators in the Serbian language from six other European countries and the USA.

Shortly before the opening ceremony, at the premises of the consulate, Consul General Vladan Tadić met with the President of the Association of Serbs in Romania and Member of the Romanian Parliament, Ognjan Krstić, President of the Serbian National Council of Montenegro, Momčilo Vuksanović, Honorary President of the Association of Serbs in Romania and writer, Slavomir Gvozdenović and the winner of the "Great Bazjaš Charter", poet Nenad Grujičić.
