Tirana: Ambassador Vukčević with the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs

The Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in Tirana, Slobodan Vukčević, met today with the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania, Olta Xhaçka, with whom he discussed topics of common interest, as well as improving cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economy, trade, tourism and culture.

The interlocutors paid special attention to regional cooperation and the Open Balkans initiative, which they assessed as a good model for mutual connection and development of the two countries, as well as the entire region.

Speaking about European integration, as one of the strategic goals of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Ambassador Vukčević and Minister Xhaçka expressed expectation that the integration of the Western Balkans into the EU will go faster in the future.

Ambassador Vukčević emphasized Serbia's interest in protecting the rights and preserving the identity of the Serbian national minority in Albania through the implementation of the Law on the Protection of National Minorities.

The interlocutors assessed the economic cooperation and the level of trade exchange between Serbia and Albania as very good, with a mutual desire to develop and improve it in the future.
