Tokyo: Ambassador Kovač met with the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan

Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Japan Aleksandra Kovač met with State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan Takako Suzuki to commemorate 140 years of friendly relations between Serbia and Japan.

During this fruitful meeting, the parties exchanged views on the potential for improving bilateral co-operation across a whole host of areas.

In the spirit of solidarity, which represented the backbone of the discussion, Ambassador Kovač expressed gratitude to Japan for supporting Serbia through various assistance mechanisms. She said Japan's support for Serbia's European integration process within the Initiative for Cooperation with the Western Balkans was stimulating, especially given Serbia’s firm commitment to that path which was crucial for preserving peace, stability, and economic prosperity in the region.

Ambassador Kovač expressed confidence in the continuation of the upward trend in the overall bilateral relations with the aim of deepening the ties between the two peoples and countries. Illustrating this upward trend, she mentioned the announced participation of Serbia in the World Exhibition in Osaka in 2025, and the enviable success of Serbia’s Olympians at the Summer Olympics in Tokyo which had been achieved through synergy of individual excellence, collective effort, and exceptional activism of Japanese host cities.
