Tokyo: Ambassador Kovač visits Osaka

24. Nov 2022.
Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Japan Aleksandra Kovač paid an official visit to the Osaka Prefecture, upon an invitation of the Japan Foundation.

Ambassador Kovač met with the Mayor of the City of Tajiri, discussed opportunities for cooperation and preparations of the Osaka Prefecture for the 2025 World Exposition, and visited the traditional city festival.

She gave a special lecture at the Japan Foundation Japanese-Language Institute, Kansai, which she had attended herself, on the occasion of the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of its foundation.

In her speech to the attendees of the Japanese language learning programme for diplomats, civil servants from other countries, researchers and exchange students of postgraduate studies, Ambassador Kovač talked about her own experience in professional development at the Institute, highlighting the importance of learning languages and getting to know other cultures, resulting in a better understanding and familiarity between geographically distant countries.

She thanked the management of the Japan Foundation, which had been attended by many of today's ambassadors and senior civil servants, for their dedication to their work and their excellent learning programmes.

Ambassador Kovač also used the opportunity to see the future location of the Osaka World Exposition, and to talk to Manatsu Ichinoki, Vice Secretary-General of Japan Association for the 2025 Expo, on the hosts’ organisational plans and the planned participation of the Republic of Serbia.
