Bilateral Political Consultations between Serbia and Brazil

The State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Damjan Jović, and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Maria Laura da Rocha, co-chaired today in Belgrade the bilateral political consultations between the two ministries.

The interlocutors reviewed key issues of bilateral cooperation and explored possibilities for its further enhancement, particularly in the areas of economy, science, culture, and modern technologies.

State Secretary Jović informed the Brazilian side about the difficult situation of the Serbian population in Kosovo and Metohija and expressed gratitude to Brazil for its consistent support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, as well as their determination to continue strengthening cooperation on issues of mutual interest within international organizations and fora.

Special attention was devoted to the forthcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference – COP30, to be hosted by Brazil in November this year.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on current regional and international developments.
