The State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Nevena Jovanović, participated in a conference marking the 25th anniversary of the adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325, “Women, Peace and Security,” organized by the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia.

State Secretary Jovanović underlined that Serbia can serve as an example of good practice in implementing the principles of Resolution 1325, emphasizing that continuous efforts are being made to strengthen the role of women within the security sector, in diplomacy, and in decision-making processes.

She highlighted in particular examples of good practice from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which—through its activities, human-resources policies, and international initiatives—makes a significant contribution to promoting the “Women, Peace and Security” agenda.

Jovanović stressed that gender equality is not only a matter of rights, but constitutes the foundation of peace, stability, and sustainable development for society as a whole, and that it is essential to translate policies in this area into tangible change within institutions and across society.

The conference, held in Belgrade, brought together representatives of international organizations, state institutions, and civil society with the aim of sharing experiences and strengthening partnerships in implementing the principles of Resolution 1325.
