Kozarev confers with Mufti Jusufspahić of the Belgrade Islamic Community of Serbia

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Dušan Kozarev, met today with Mustafa Efendi Jusufspahić, Mufti of the Belgrade Islamic Community of Serbia, Chief Military Imam of the Serbian Armed Forces, and Executive Director of the Halal Agency of Serbia.

During the meeting, the interlocutors underscored the importance of institutional cooperation with representatives of religious communities, as well as the role of interreligious dialogue and religious diplomacy in contemporary international relations.

Views were also exchanged on the announced reintroduction of mandatory military service, which both sides welcomed, as well as on issues related to multi-confessionalism and religious service within the defence system.

The discussion further addressed the strengthening of mutual trust, particularly among younger generations, with the Secretary General expressing gratitude to Mufti Jusufspahić for his dedicated engagement in this field.

The importance of international certifications for food produced in accordance with religious standards—such as halal and kosher—was also highlighted, along with their contribution to economic cooperation and the export potential of the Republic of Serbia.
