15. Oct 2023.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic handed over diplomatic passports to popular Serbian men's national basketball team players Bogdan Bogdanovic, Borisa Simanic, Aleksa Avramovic and Dejan Davidovac, as well as to the Serbian women’s national volleyball team players Maja Ognjenovic, Tijana Boskovic, Ana Bjelica, Jovana Stevanovic and Teodora Pusic.

In a cordial conversation with our successful athletes, Minister Dacic pointed out that this gesture was an opportunity for the state to repay the athletes, who have been bringing medals to Serbia for years, in this more than symbolic way.

"A diplomatic passport is not a prerequisite for our medal-winning athletes to be ambassadors of our country, they have already proven that this is the case with their results and behavior", said Minister Dacic and noted that we were proud of them and their sports achievements.

Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic will successively present diplomatic passports to other members of the Serbian basketball and volleyball teams, when they are able include a visit to the Ministry to their schedule.

The basketball team of Serbia, led by captain Bogdan Bogdanovic, added to its rich collection of trophies the title of vice-champion at the World Cup in Manila. Serbian women’s national volleyball team, multiple world and European champions and Olympic vice-champions, won a silver medal at the European Championship in Belgium, which is the ninth consecutive medal in this decade at major competitions, making them the absolutely most successful national team.
