Serbia committed to strengthening all modes of cooperation with the U.S.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Nikola Selaković met today with the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs and the U.S. Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar. The meeting was also attended by U.S. Ambassador in Belgrade Anthony Godfrey.

Minister Selaković said that Serbia was strategically committed to intensifying political dialogue at the highest level and to upgrading overall cooperation with the United States.

In light of the last year`s celebration of the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Minister Selaković pointed out that this practice of highlighting positive examples of the historical alliance should continue in the future, with the aim of strengthening the relations and cooperation as partners.
 
Minister Selaković stressed that Serbia was interested to improve economic cooperation with the United States and pointed out the importance of presence and business dealings of numerous relevant U.S. companies in our country.
 
He also thanked for the continuous support provided by Washington on Serbia`s path towards the full EU membership and said that the reforms as well as improving all segments of our society would remain our priority.
 
Minister Selaković emphasised that peace, stability and security in the region was Serbia`s top priority interest.
 
He also thanked the United States for the principled support provided to the Open Balkan initiative, as a model of the regional economic linking.
 
In terms of the dialogue between Belgrade and Priština, Minister Selaković reiterated that our side remains fully committed to dialogue as the only path for resolving the open issues and for achieving mutually acceptable agreement.
