Starović in Smederevo at the handing over of keys to 20 apartments for refugee families from B&H and Croatia

The State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nemanja Starović, attended the solemn handing over of the keys to 20 apartments in Smederevo today, intended for refugee families from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, within the realization of the Regional Housing Project.

The apartments were built within the sub-project 9 of the RHP, financial resources for the construction of apartments were provided from the donor Fund of the RHP, and the land and communal infrastructure were provided by the City of Smederevo.

The event was also attended by Vladimir Cucić, Commissioner for Refugees and Migration, Marija Marković Stavrić, Deputy Mayor of Smederevo, Leoneta Pajer, representative of the European Union Delegation to Serbia, Dušan Kovačević, director of the Public Sector Project Management Unit, as well as representatives of other national and international institutions and organizations and beneficiaries.

The regional housing program is a joint multi-year program of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Croatia, which aims to provide permanent housing solutions for the most vulnerable refugee families in the region.

It is implemented with the support of the OSCE and UNHCR and the Council of Europe Development Bank, and is funded by the European Union, which is also the largest donor, the United States, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, Turkey, Luxembourg, Spain, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia.
