Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the burning of the Serbian flag in Tirana

On 21 November 2023, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia delivered a note of protest to the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Belgrade condemning in the strongest terms the unacceptable act of burning the national flag of the Republic of Serbia at the Skanderbeg central city square in Tirana, which was published on internet media portals on 20 November 2023.
We believe that such events are detrimental to the bilateral relations between the two countries, which in the past few years have reached the highest point in the centuries-long joint history.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, in that spirit, expects that the competent institutions of the Republic of Albania will do everything in their power to identify and prosecute the perpetrators of this heinous act, who are clearly visible in the published video, and notify the authorities of the Republic of Serbia about it through diplomatic channels within a reasonable period of time.
