The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Dušan Kozarev, met in Miami with the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Bahamas, Jerusa Léa Dean Ali, and the Consul General of the Bahamas in Florida, Tyson McKenzie.

Kozarev expressed gratitude for the Bahamas’ support of Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as its respect for international law regarding Kosovo and Metohija.

The interlocutors agreed that relations between Serbia and the Bahamas are characterized by good cooperation and understanding, as reaffirmed during the recent meeting between Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Đurić and his Bahamian counterpart Frederick Mitchell in Antigua and Barbuda on the margins of the General Assembly of the Organization of American States.

A number of bilateral issues of mutual interest were discussed, with particular emphasis on the shared commitment to the mutual abolition of visas, as well as the readiness to enhance coordination within international organizations.

It was assessed that there is considerable potential for strengthening trade and tourism ties, and Kozarev invited Bahamian officials to convey to interested young compatriots the opportunity to apply for scholarships offered by the Serbian government for university studies in Serbia.
