AUF notices the dynamization of francophone activities in the Republic of Serbia

02. Jul 2021.
Acting Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dijana Ivančić, had a meeting with the Director of the regional branch of the Francophone University Agency (AUF) for Central and Eastern Europe based in Bucharest, Mohamed Ketata.

In an open conversation, Mr. Ketata said that the AUF notices the dynamization of francophone activities in the Republic of Serbia, which is indisputably related to the decision of the Government of the Republic of Serbia to become a full member of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF).

In this regard, an initiative was launched to open a regional office of the AUF in Belgrade, in Serbia, by the end of the year, to the mutual satisfaction. The next steps in that direction were agreed, and Ambassador Ivančić informed Mr. Ketata in detail about all the measures taken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to fulfill the conditions for full membership in the OIF, especially emphasizing that Francophonie should be brought closer to young people, in which it has the support of other line ministries whose representatives have been delegated to the inter-ministerial Working Group for Cooperation with the AUF.

Pointing out the potential of Serbia's leadership in the region when it comes to Francophonie, Mr. Ketata expressed hope that Serbia will soon become a full member of the OIF.
