Communication and contacts with Gambia to be intensified

12. Oct 2021.
Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Nikola Selaković, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Diaspora of Gambia, Mamadou Tangara.

Selaković expressed satisfaction that Gambia was adequately represented at the gathering held on the occasion of marking the 60th anniversary of the Non-Aligned Movement, sharing hope that this meeting on the margins is just an introduction into more intensive communication and high-level contacts.

According to the head of Serbian diplomacy, although diplomatic relations were established back in 1965, relations between the two countries are currently not at an adequate level, so it shall be necessary to work together on improving them.

Selaković said that Serbia is ready to establish cooperation in a number of areas such as education, agriculture, construction, the IT sector, economy, and tourism.

Minister Selaković informed his interlocutor about the results of economic reforms in the last seven years of Serbia, and that our country has the opportunity to provide assistance and support to friendly countries in need in various ways.

He especially emphasized that we want to give our contribution to cooperation in the field of education and provide scholarships to a certain number of students from the Gambia through the “World in Serbia” program for studying in our country.
