Đurić confers with Delegations from Saint Lucia and Saint Kitts and Nevis

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Đurić, met today with Lanein Blanchette, President of the Parliament of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Claudius Francis, Speaker of the House of Assembly of Saint Lucia, and Jeremiah Norbert, Minister for Home Affairs of Saint Lucia, who are currently on an official visit to the Republic of Serbia.

Minister Đurić extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests, emphasizing that the meeting provided an excellent opportunity to engage in a comprehensive discussion on advancing Serbia’s relations with these two friendly Caribbean nations.

He underscored Serbia’s firm commitment to further strengthening political dialogue, parliamentary cooperation, and engagement across all areas of mutual interest.

Minister Đurić noted that Serbia places particular importance on fostering closer ties with the Latin American and Caribbean region and remains dedicated to enhancing bilateral cooperation with the countries of that part of the world. He also recalled Serbia’s active presence in regional organizations within the Caribbean and Latin America.

The discussions placed special focus on the potential to deepen economic cooperation, including a review of the legal and contractual frameworks currently in place between Serbia and the two countries. Particular attention was also given to cooperation in the field of education. In this regard, Minister Đurić expressed satisfaction that students from Saint Kitts and Nevis and Saint Lucia are participating in the “World in Serbia” scholarship program and encouraged more young people from both nations to apply and pursue their studies in Serbia.

On this occasion, Minister Đurić extended his appreciation to Saint Lucia for confirming its participation in the upcoming Specialized Expo 2027 in Belgrade and expressed hope that Saint Kitts and Nevis would soon take a similar decision.
