Đurić confers with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Đurić, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of the Republic of North Macedonia, Timčo Mucunski, who attended the formal dinner held on the eve of the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Central European Initiative (CEI) in Belgrade.

The Serbian Foreign Minister expressed his pleasure at the opportunity to host dear friends from North Macedonia who are in Belgrade for the ceremonial dinner organized in the context of Serbia’s Chairmanship of the Central European Initiative.

“This is an excellent opportunity for us, both for a bilateral meeting and to discuss how to further strengthen relations between Serbia and North Macedonia. I do not need to emphasize how closely our two countries cooperate and how historically good our relations are. Yet, in this period, we bear a special responsibility to intensify our transport links, our economic activity, and cooperation across all segments of society within the broader European agenda,” Minister Đurić underlined.

Noting that Serbia and North Macedonia strongly support each other on their European paths, Đurić pointed out that there are numerous topics of regional cooperation, and that participation in the CEI provides an important opportunity to discuss them.

“One of the topics will be the further intensification of transport connections, and as you know, in the previous period we have already facilitated the movement of people by establishing joint border crossings,” Đurić concluded.

Thanking Minister Đurić for the invitation, Minister Mucunski emphasized that bilateral relations between the two states are excellent, adding that there is still much that can be achieved together.

Mucunski highlighted the importance of continued engagement on concrete projects, alongside the strengthening of good political relations, as well as cooperation in the fields of economy, education, and culture—all of which, he said, would also be discussed at tonight’s meeting.

According to him, an exhibition of several renowned Macedonian artists is being opened this evening at the Macedonian Cultural Center in Belgrade, which demonstrates the dynamism of bilateral relations. He added that representatives of the two governments will continue to work even more intensively, making full use of the capacities of the business sector, academia, and all those who have an interest in investing in strong bilateral relations.

The formal dinner hosted by Minister Đurić brings together representatives of all CEI member states, while the central meeting marking the conclusion of Serbia’s one-year Chairmanship of the Central European Initiative will be held tomorrow at the Palace of Serbia.
