Đurić Meets with Members of the Canada–Serbia Parliamentary Friendship Group

Đurić expressed particular satisfaction at the opportunity to meet in Belgrade today, recalling that, during his previous visit to Ottawa, he had the opportunity to hold talks with members of this highly important body, which plays a significant role not only for the large Serbian diaspora in Canada, but also in strengthening the overall relations between the two countries.

The head of Serbian diplomacy underscored the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and institutional cooperation, noting that the resumption of the Friendship Group’s activities represents an important step towards further strengthening political, economic and social ties between the two countries.

Referring to his visit to Canada in May this year, which opened a new chapter in bilateral relations, Đurić reaffirmed Serbia’s commitment to further strengthening economic ties with Canada in areas of mutual interest that have been jointly identified as offering significant potential for cooperation.

Đurić also discussed regional issues with the Canadian guests, stressing that stability, growth and development remain at the heart of Serbia’s domestic policy priorities.

On this occasion, Đurić reiterated his invitation to his Canadian counterpart, Anita Anand, to visit Serbia, noting that such a visit would be a fitting way to mark the 85th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

During today’s meeting, and in honor of this important anniversary in bilateral relations, Đurić presented Kuruc with a commemorative postage stamp issued to mark 85 years of diplomatic relations between Serbia and Canada.
